Unfortunately cold food, undercooked burger and slow service.
It was freezing in here. All the food came out cold except for the cold food. some of the food came out, misprepared. It was definitely not worth the money we paid.. The only good thing was our server, Caleb.
Great pub at Brown Palace. Had a greek salad with crab cake. Fish and chips was great too. Huge piece of cheesecake so had to take half of it home
What a place it used to be.We have been going to ST for 23 years. About 3 years ago something changed.Christmas night 2023 was at best awful. Our reservation was at 4pm dinner not offered until 4:30. We ordered appetizers but we're urged to order from lunch menu because of some computer things. So, soup onion and chowder were tepid at best. No clean glasses for a beer. Wait staff had to run down a flight of stairs to the kitchen so warming the soup was of no use. Pastrami was nasty, tasted like thick sliced ham. Burger was good but by the time it came to table, like everything else, they were cold, couldn't eat them. The waiter told us that there used to be a dumbwaiter to bring hot food up from kitchen but it had been closed, now they run up and down the stairs for the food. No food domes or anything to keep food warm. Sorry, they did not have the beers that were requested so we settled for what the had. Not one thing that requested could be filled, we settled for what we could get. Nothing was hot and honestly, nothing was very good, maybe if it had been hot it would have been more palatable. Every time the waiter came back to let us know they didn't have our choice from your menu, he got upset. We walked out to see your beautiful lobby in hopes to spend New Years Eve there but there appeared to be rodent traps all along the 2 and floor. Some were draped with napkins, presumably by guests?? Could they not be placed out of sight? Just a terrible experience and certainly NOT the place we've come to love so much over the years. Your management should be ashamed for allowing this place gorgeous place slide so badly. My husband asked if anyone else was complaining and the waiter told us there were quite a few complaints. The table next to us had been empty until the end of our stay . A group of 3 elderly people were seated there and one of them said there was something underfoot so they pulled out their phone flashlights and they proceeded to pick u large food items up from the floor, an olive, part of an old sandwich. Nothing was acceptable but they took our $300 bucks! I'm so sorry to say that I'll go to a chain restaurant before I go back there. My husband is from a prominent Denver family and we remember back in the day when his parents were welcomed there like family as were people who weren't known. This is just sad. To watch this magnificent place be treated like this is shameful. Sadly, we will no longer patronize your establishment and we'll hold our memories of #shipstavern in our hearts. Very disappointed.
STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
Just left this hotel because my husband and I were assaulted by a drunk man in the Ship Tavern. The worst part about it is the hotel manager and security did NOTHING to man that assaulted us. It's Christmas Day, my husband and I had a dinner reservation so we sat at the bar and had a drink while we waited for our table. The second we got to the bar a white man in his mid forties wearing a grey hoodie began yelling at us and asked my husband if he was looking for trouble because he was gonna find it. We assumed he was just drunk and turned our backs to him in the hopes that he would just leave us alone. Moments later he came up to my husband and pushed him from behind. He pushed him so hard that he also slammed me against the bar spilling my drink. (Hotel and bar staff please feel free to review the camera footage. Time of incident was approximately 8:00pm on 12/25/23). The most shocking part to me was the fact that the bartenders and staff watched and did nothing while this man pushed us and began threatening us so much so that we had to leave the bar. I told the bartender we didn't feel comfortable staying while he was yelling at us. She seemed very apathetic towards the whole issue. She didn't say a word. I went to the hotel front desk to report the incident. The manager was brought out and I spoke to him informing him what had happened. He asked if I could go and point out the gentleman that did this for security. I said yes and walked back in the bar with security (a man and a woman). I explained what happened while we walked back to the bar. When we got to the bar, I pointed out the gentleman to security. He got up instantly and put his hood over his head and put his head down and proceeded to walk out of the bar with an elderly man who he was dining with. I followed behind them, and so did Security . We watched them go into the hotel elevator. I asked Security if they were going to do anything about the assault that took place. The security looked at each other and didn't say a word. I asked why did they let him go without even talking to him about the incident? To which they replied "we need to talk things over with the hotel manager first." So essentially the man shoved us, proceeded to walk right in front of security and back up to his room with NO accountability for his actions. I have been coming here for years and have never experienced such blatant disrespect let alone physical aggression. I understand that you cannot control the actions of patrons, especially when people are drunk and have clearly been over served, but it's very disappointing to see how the hotel and security handled this situation. Instead of confronting the man who assaulted us they did nothing. Which in my eyes shows they don't really care about the safety and wellbeing of their hotel guests and those dining in their establishment. We made the decision to leave because we didn't want to stick around since the mad was clearly unstable and aggressive and didn't want to risk what could potentially have unfolded if he came down from his room looking to attack us again. This is a nice hotel and I expected better from the staff. Like I said I know you can't control the actions of others but to let a man like that go is dangerous and shameful. I certainly hope no one else happens to cross paths with him while he is drunk and angry. Please think twice before staying at a hotel that clearly does not care for the safety of their guests.
Excellent food, good service. Always busy, so recommend calling ahead for reservations, especially for 2 or more people.
Super friendly service!!
